Ray Miles Hosts Annual Art Show
Photographer and painter Ray Miles will be hosting his annual exhibit with a collection of his distinctive works which includes black and white and color photographs and oil paintings of the island that he calls home: St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. Calling this
an "exhibit" does not do this announcement justice; this is actually a 3-day event, which begins on Friday, Nov. 18 with a cocktail mixer from 5-7pm at the Johansen House on Weymouth Rhymer Highway.
Then, on Saturday, Nov. 19 the gallery will be open from 10am to 6pm, and on Sunday Nov. 20 from 12pm to 5pm. Private showings will also be available, by appointment.
Enjoy a look at the island of St. Thomas in the 1960s through a series of black and white photographs taken with Miles' preferred Hasselblad cameras over the course of many happy years here. Selected photos will be available for purchase alongside many painted scenes of the U.S. Virgin Islands (oil on canvas).
The Johansen House is located on the Weymouth Rhymer Highway, just past Fort Mylner - look for the sign and balloons at the entrance.
